This year, the «best architects award» celebrates a special anniversary: for 20 years, it has stood for the recognition of pioneering architecture across Europe. With «best architects 26», a total of 89 outstanding projects have been honored with the coveted label – among them 8 projects that received the highest distinction, «best architects 26 in Gold», for their exceptional quality.

What began 20 years ago has evolved into one of the most influential architecture awards in Europe – serving as a platform for design excellence, innovative concepts, and the cultural relevance of building in the 21st century.

Two Decades of Architecture: From Form to Responsibility


Twenty years ago, architecture was often defined by iconic buildings – spectacular forms, new materials, powerful imagery. Today, very different qualities are in focus: resource conservation, reuse, social context, and durability. Conversion instead of new construction, intelligent further development of existing structures, and a responsible approach to what already exists – these are the hallmarks of contemporary architecture. The best architects award has accompanied and documented this transformation – as a reflection of the evolution of a discipline that constantly reinvents itself.
