Description

Although the site is located on the busy main road in Merlischachen, it has beautiful views of the directly adjacent Lake Lucerne and a coveted southern exposure. The building houses three rental apartments fronted by landscaped terraces. The volume develops along the slope of the topography, taking its cue from the scale and alignment of the neighbouring dwellings. Oriented toward the south and the lake views, the apartments are protected from street noise through the sound-absorbing ceilings of the overhanging terraces and by closed parapet bands. Each apartment has flowing interior spaces extending from the entryway to the living/ dining room and onward to a spacious dressing room outside the master bedroom, all oriented toward the landscaped terrace looking onto the lake and the mountains beyond. The façades have been covered in white scraped stucco, with window details and parapet railings in a white stove-enamelled finish. Warm materials predominate in the interior, including oak plank parquet and built-in cabinets and kitchen fronts veneered in chestnut. Bathroom and terrace walls and floors are covered in large travertine slabs.
