The Flushing Meadows Hotel & Bar is located in the middle of Munich’s lively Glockenbach neighbourhood, on the third and fourth floors of an industrial building from the 1970s. The sophisticated design of the new venue melds the rugged feel of the original building with individualistic interior decor to create an inviting ambience. On the third floor, the architects created 11 loft studios in collaboration with artist friends. Each studio has a reinforced concrete ceiling over four meters high and features a bathroom with copper fittings, horizontal Japanese tile and polished concrete floor. Five penthouse studios are located on the fourth floor, some of them with a private rooftop terrace. They offer guests sensational views and sumptuous furniture and decor specially developed by the architects. The Rooftop Bar on the same floor has a terrace with panoramic views of the Alps and functions as a creative haven both for hotel guests and Munich locals. With fabric-covered wall panels, velvet-upholstered furniture developed for the most part by the architects themselves (tables, sofas, benches), and oak and teak elements, the bar has a cosy living-room atmosphere.
