Description

The Goldwand apartment complex is located on a hillside in Ennetbaden, overlooking the spa quarter opposite. Housing eight condominiums, it closes a gap in the neighbourhood development, which consists mainly of single-family homes. By staggering the four building sections along the slope while slightly rotating each one, the volume blends in effortlessly with the scale of the surrounding development. The interior organisation is adapted to the steeply sloping site: only the parking and entrance areas are located at street level, with the two lower levels holding two apartments per segment. Each apartment features a projecting four-season room, while the upper units also have an intimate courtyard at the back in connection with a further room. The horizontally articulated façade parallels the linearity of the hillside, with continuous glass surfaces forming a contrast to the varying textures of the masonry whilst also mapping the interior layout.
