Description

The super-league-sized football stadium seats 10,000 and looks compact despite its dimensions. Only 14 metres in height, it blends in well with Thun’s tree-lined boulevards. The multifunctional arena exudes a mood that is at once dynamic, elegant and bright. The exterior appearance is shaped by a tripartite horizontal stratification into base, mesh-covered mid-section and roof edge. The transparent building shell allows views both from outside into the concrete structure of the arena and from inside the stadium onto the panoramic mountain scenery. The diagonals of the façade, fitted with LED lamps, join together with the field lighting to allow the stadium to be seen from afar, particularly at dusk and nightfall. Above the grandstand is a lounge with a view of the playing field that can be divided into five rooms seating 350, or alternatively used as conference rooms. The stadium conforms to the Minergie® standard and has solar panels on the roof.
