Description

The project is located at the edge of a residential area on the outskirts of Geneva. Bordered in the south by forest and open to the fields in the west, the site marks the transition between city and nature. The building is set in the north-east section of the property. The resulting open space between the villa and the forest allows for a direct view of the countryside from the road. The brief called for two apartments of different sizes and layouts. The volume of the building is shaped in such a way that each half is perceived as an independent house. The residents are offered diverging orientations and outdoor spaces that afford privacy from the neighbours. Nevertheless, the cubature made up of a sloping roof atop a diamond-shaped floor plan still combines the two apartments into one unit. The continuous dyed concrete building envelope is interrupted only by loggias of larchwood cut into the façade and by the roof surfaces. On the interior, this look is echoed using similar materials. The villa meets the highest energy standards.
