Description

The new Marin Centre shopping mall was built in stages in order to replace the existing mall without an interruption in operations. The »Nord« motorway exit leads visitors to a five-storey car park and via spacious ramps into the main hall, flooded with natural light. At the western end of the mall is a terrace that opens out to the verdant countryside. A footpath links the shopping mall with the centre of the neighbouring village. A railway station to the south and a bus stop to the west ensure convenient public transport connections. The façade are distinguished by a system of metal panels that give the building the look of a homogeneous volume and yet can respond flexibly to the different functional requirements. Marin Centre differs from other large shopping malls in Switzerland through its consistent focus on sustainable development. The building complies with the »Minergie« standard, and also boasts further innovative, bio-climatic, resource-saving and technologically sophisticated solutions. The daylight-suffused main hall plays a pivotal role in conserving energy. The optimised natural ventilation creates a comfortable room climate without energy-intensive mechanical air conditioning.
