Description

Restructuring measures on the grounds of the Getzner Textil company led to the construction of a new fire station to replace the company’s own outdated fire house. As public fire-fighting operations outside company premises are also carried out, the striking new building is positioned at the intersection with the service entrance. A façade skin made of expanded metal wraps and envelops the entire building including the hose tower, turning it into a sculptural unit and giving the new structure a textile-like surface. The vehicle hall accommodates three vehicles, and the changing rooms are arranged openly in the hall. At a central spot, the radio and command centre offers an overview of the vehicle hall and the entire square out front. The training room with kitchen and a lounge are on the first floor. The adjacent garage is used to house the company’s lift trucks. The new building was built of solid masonry and is heated via the company’s local heating network.
