Description
The Innovation Center is set at the foot of a mountain massif and is read from the valley below as a reclining pedestal for the company complex. The building’s appearance is shaped by the horizontal layering of cast stone parapets and window bands of varying heights, which stage the surround-ing panorama while expressing the desired flexibility on the interior. The heart of the building is a two-storey, column-free experimentation hall, which is raised in the middle by one storey to create a so-called »eye« and is enclosed on three sides by laboratories and office floors. The hall provides opportunities for visual and functional communication, enabling direct contact to be made with the concentrated project work on the office storeys. Six light wells and the continuous ribbon windows let daylight into all workspaces and common areas. Varying layouts, lighting moods and material blends mark out different settings and atmospheres for individual, concentrated work, for sharing in a team, or taking a break to recharge.
