Description
The free-standing apartment house in Zurich’s city centre was designed with a raised ground floor, four standard floors and an attic storey. Three apartments are arranged on each floor around the central staircase. Each is open on two sides and has a recessed loggia at the corner. A projecting bay window extends the living space. Horizontal bands articulate the façade, with windows arranged at regular intervals across its surface. These bands as well as the perforated façade elements are features typical of the surrounding city district. They give the quite simple building a distinguished touch in keeping with its price segment. The ground floor is raised to enhance the living quality while also allowing for an over-height entrance and foyer, lending the house an air of exclusivity. The apartment floor plans permit different arrangements of the kitchen to cater to the residents’ diverse wishes.
