Description

The hotel is located in the southwest of Mellrichstadt in the Rhön Mountains and forms the transition between the built-up residential area and the natural environment. The newly built section of the hotel is formed by three separate timber buildings, each with four guest rooms. They are located between the car park and a large garden with a swimming pond in the south. The new wing thus provides privacy as well as noise protection while offering high-quality, spacious guest rooms that are oriented towards nature. Following this idea, the guest rooms are entered from the north side by an access balcony. A light lamellar structure made of larch wood towards the car park offers protection and privacy for the guest. While the bathrooms have been conceived as intimate interior spaces illuminated by skylights, the bedroom and lounge area open up completely to the south with an unobstructed view across the hotel garden. Terraces as well as curtains in front of the guest rooms create a feeling of security and tranquillity for the guests. The new building is supplied with energy by geothermal probes and photovoltaic modules on the roofs, thus meeting the high standards for ecological sustainability and efficiency of a biohotel.
