Description
The headquarters of Chemnitz police are located on the site of former military barracks, which is today defined by spacious lawns, hedges and old trees, and has a park-like character. The open carport for 34 police cars respects the character of the environment and fits into the surrounds, without renouncing its autonomy as an architectural feature. The open roofing is arranged in front of the existing garage buildings, pushing itself subtly into the foreground. The closed side panels open up and develop a translucent transparency depending on perspective, an effect created by a lining made of partially perforated trapezoidal sheet metal.
