Description
The Eichi centre was built in 1985 by architect Walter Schindler. From the outside, the multifunctional hall looks like a compact structure. In addition to its sports facilities, it houses a two-storey foyer, changing rooms and showers, a spectators’ gallery, utility rooms and a stage. The rooms can be divided up for different events. The concrete building, with its yellow fibreglass façade, blends into the warm-toned ensemble consisting of an ochre-coloured old building and orange school annexe. Inside, exposed concrete alternates with Aleppo pine laminate and coloured polyurethane surfaces. The changing rooms are designed in yellow and blue – the colours of the local coat of arms. A bouncing ball theme determines the design of the hall. Circular gaps in the wall allow views from the spectators’ gallery into the hall. These are repeated in the external wall opposite and thus allow views outside. The circular motifs give the hall a distinct quality.
