Description

The project site is a steep plot of vineyards with a southern orientation. Overlooking the Rhône Valley, the building has been embedded in the slope without changing the topography and its character. The whole volume, which is laid out on three storeys, is oriented along the road in order to minimise its footprint. The entrance and living areas are located at street level. A terrace whose volume was excavated out of the ground seems to be suspended between land and sky, freeing the ground of all installations. The lower level of the house is designed as a wide-open space, with movable partition walls separating the rooms. On the basement level is the wine cellar, connected with the land all around it. The house is clad in a two-coloured render, a mixture of two different green tones that recalls the hues of the vineyards. The house’s structural frame, which integrates all the utilities, is made from mono concrete.
