Description
The school is situated in the southernmost part of Vienna. Surrounded by large scale, highly dense residential buildings it forms a compact and unostentatious counterpart by being the smallest and lowest building in the area. The school represents the main portal of an esplanade which forms the access for pedestrians through the new city quarter. While the ground floor is set back from the esplanade, the glass porch opens up to it. The gymnasium is separated from the main structure by an atrium, which allows a glance inside the school court. Loggias and terraces carve into the monolithic building and play with volumes and proportions to form a distinctive front façade.
