House D
Description
The view is hard to top. One might be in South America or upstate New York – hard to believe that Basel is only 25 minutes away. As the last house in Nuglar, House D enjoys a privileged setting. It is situated parallel to the landscape and thus makes the spectacular view into the main event. A 180-degree vista overlooks unspoilt, green land with tall fruit trees. The project makes the fantastic location the theme, highlighting it through a few interventions: the storey where the living areas are located is an open-plan space with a kitchen, and the stairs to the lower and upper storeys are set in a concrete core. This space is fully glazed and melds seamlessly with the outdoors. Outside is an oversized terrace. No more, but no less either. Arranged across a total of 241 sqm of floor space are three bedrooms, a guest room, three bathrooms, a gym and a study, along with the living room. A garage with space for four cars and direct access to the house completes the ensemble.
