Description
The waste disposal centre, an aesthetic timber structure located in the city centre of Feldkirch, visualises the process of waste separation with a design that accords it the highest degree of appreciation. The whole plot was roofed with a shape that follows its form, creating a large hall that houses all functions and has a cubature enabling flexible use now and in the future. When the gate to the waste collection centre is open, the way inside is umistakable. All round the building is a – slightly sunk – single traffic lane for transporting large containers off the premises. This transport aisle is in turn integrated matter-of-factly between the hall and a massive falling-rock barrier at the foot of Ardetzenberg Mountain. The renewable raw material of timber was chosen for the sophisticated and high-quality structure in the interest of environmental protection and sustainability. Twenty-four skylight domes provide an even supply of daylight and an inviting atmosphere for employees and customers alike.
