Description
Strongly shaped by the
neighbourhood’s development plan, the project challenges the rigidity of the
imposed repetitive slab blocks. A folded façade explores tangential orientations
and the depth of the site. This geometry maximises sunlight exposure and views
while reducing noise from Route de Ferney and preventing direct overlooking
between buildings. All apartments benefit from at least dual orientation. Each
is organised around a living room and eat-in kitchen pair that can be
partitioned and which opens onto a central loggia. The larger
through-apartments are conceived as adaptable units, thanks to a double
entrance hall system allowing future subdivision. Exterior access galleries
connect the loggias, encouraging social interaction, providing solar
protection, and facilitating façade maintenance. Two reinforced concrete cores
integrate vertical circulation and wet rooms. Around these structural spines, a
four-metre-wide band accommodates living spaces and bedrooms. It is built with
a hybrid timber-concrete system using point-supported timber columns and a
lightweight timber façade. The access gallery, made of cast-in-place concrete,
rests on an independent structure integrated into the façade and contributes to
its architectural expression. The building, with six storeys plus a recessed
penthouse, is articulated in three layers: a concrete base, a timber main
volume punctuated by concrete balconies, and a matte stainless-steel-clad
penthouse.
