Description
The area around Möhrlistrasse 99
exemplifies the typical character of a 1960s neighbourhood. Buildings are
arranged as freestanding and linear volumes following the descending terrain, set
perpendicular to the street. Private gardens with abundant trees create
continuous green space and a high-quality living environment. The two new
buildings pick up on this existing fabric in terms of volume and typology.
Together with the three neighbouring parcels to the north, the street-facing
building forms an ensemble that sensitively carries on the typology of the
façades along Möhrlistrasse. The second volume is situated in the open space at
the rear of the site. Both buildings are organised around a central staircase,
each with two apartments per floor. The apartments are exposed on three sides,
with bay and corner windows and balconies offering expansive views of the
surrounding private gardens and green spaces of the settlement. Despite its
openness, the staggered layout of living and dining areas creates zoning and
varied sightlines both within and beyond the apartments. Solid masonry walls
finished with textured plaster blend naturally into the material and colour
palette of the quarter. Elements such as stone window surrounds and solid
balcony parapets reinforce the association with the 1960s character of the
neighbourhood. Baked enamel metal elements and colourful fabric awnings lend
the buildings a refined and contemporary touch.
