Description
The
project transforms the southern end of a 1929 row-house ensemble and develops
its typology in a contemporary way. The replacement building adopts the grain,
façade alignment and permeable green space of the existing buildings, thereby
strengthening the collective identity. A precise vertical accentuation marks
the end of the ensemble as an address-forming element. The three-storey timber
structure with minimal use of concrete reinterprets the corner row house as a
resource-conscious housing typology. Its realisation within a tight budget,
while maintaining high spatial and constructive quality, is based on integral
design and a consistent reduction of means. The narrow, deep volume responds
directly to the plot logic. An open ground floor interweaves interior and
exterior space, while the upper floors generate differentiated, flexibly usable
spatial sequences. Generous ceiling heights and precisely placed openings create
spatial density with minimal floor area consumption. The façade translates the
typology into an independent architectural language: sensitively layered,
scaled and articulated, and realised as a refined timber structure. The project
follows the principle of «simple building»: reduced construction, minimal
build-ups and exposed materials. The structural frame is left as finished
surface. The visible heat pump on the roof makes the shift towards sustainable
energy systems legible as an architectural statement.
