Description
The triple sports hall
integrates naturally into the rural context through its stepped volumes. The
hall was constructed adjacent to the existing structure, while the foyer with
changing rooms is built onto the existing civil defence facility – a
resource-conscious approach that strengthens sustainability. The stepped façade
mediates between the new building and its surroundings, creating a clear
architectural identity. The orthogonal arrangement toward the school ensemble
defines a precisely framed playground with a clear edge. Staircase and canopy
form a distinctive entrance that combines arrival and lingering. The external
spaces are simply and functionally organised, reinforcing the overall
structural logic. Internally, the centrally organised, light-filled foyer forms
the spatial backbone. It provides direct access to all functions and opens
views into the hall. Integrated ancillary spaces and the open spectator gallery
create clarity, spatial depth and a clear hierarchy. The construction follows
sustainable principles: a robust concrete plinth for intensive uses is combined
with an upper timber structure that creates a warm atmosphere and reduces
embodied energy. The reuse of the civil defence structure and a photovoltaic
system further enhance sustainability. Strategically placed openings ensure
well-balanced daylighting and high spatial quality.
