Description
At
the top of a 1970s building, the transformation of a duplex apartment creates a
new way of living at a lofty height. This through-apartment opens generously
onto two planted terraces, true outdoor extensions that offer a relaxing
ambience in the heart of the city. With its clean lines and open volumes, the
project reinvents space with an aesthetic inspired by architectural minimalism
and Japanese principles. The intervention began with the conversion of the
7th-floor terrace, now hosting a spacious kitchen and a light-filled dining
room. The façades have been entirely reworked, and the openings enlarged to
establish a constant dialogue between inside and outside, taking advantage of
the apartment’s floor-through layout. Inside, all partitions have been removed,
exposing the raw concrete structure of the building. This constructive
framework forms the foundation for a new layout where functions (storage
spaces, sanitary facilities, an air-conditioning system) are integrated into
technical cores clad with natural anodised aluminium. This tailor-made setup
optimises every square metre while maintaining great spatial fluidity. A series
of wooden platforms, finished in polished concrete, lend rhythm to the sequence
of spaces, suggesting uses rather than defining them. The platforms also
facilitate level access to the terraces, erasing thresholds to better reveal
the views. Through the large openings, a panoramic vista unfolds of both the
Paris skyline and abundant vegetation, creating the feeling of an urban oasis.
