Description
This
leisure and recreation project in the Bavarian Forest serves as a contemporary
supplement to both urban and rural living. The primary architectural objective was
the harmonious integration of a modern retreat into the surrounding landscape
and nature. Situated on a 3,500-square-metre hillside plot overlooking the Ilz
Valley, the house features a simple, elongated structure. It was built using prefabricated
timber-frame elements, with a wooden façade and interior walls finished with
wood surfaces. The internal space is structured by a central cube made of
fair-faced concrete with board-marked formwork, while a minimalist steel spiral
staircase provides access to the upper floor. The entire building was
constructed using renewable raw materials, with a few exceptions, including the
reinforced concrete floor slab in contact with the ground and the titanium-zinc
roofing. The project prioritises ecological building materials, including foam
glass gravel, timber structures, wood wool and wood cladding. These materials
were predominantly sourced or manufactured within the region, and the
construction was carried out exclusively by local craftsmen.
