Description
The existing basic structure of the school complex – characterised
by offset building volumes and open spaces in between – is being consistently
developed further. The new kindergarten is integrated into the western part of
the development perimeter and, together with the two existing school buildings,
forms the address-defining frontage along Friedhofweg. The multifunctional
square defined by the three building volumes serves as an address, meeting
point and distribution space for the entire facility. The floor plan of the
kindergarten is designed as a hall structure with a uniform grid. At the centre
is the communal space – acting as the heart of the facility and a
multifunctional cluster centre. The individual kindergarten rooms, as well as
the cloakrooms with integrated kitchenette niches, are arranged around this
central area, which functions as a cross-class meeting place and pedagogical
hub. The cloakrooms and the communal kitchen feature specially designed niches
that provide a high level of comfort and security. The open layout creates a
flexible hall space that offers various uses – such as exhibitions by the
kindergarten classes, film screenings, theatre performances, movement courses,
or as an extended area for cross-group projects. The design is on a
child-friendly scale and the main material used is local spruce wood.
