Description

The project is part of the «La Petite Prairie» neighbourhood development plan in Nyon. It aims to capitalise on the quality of the open spaces, which serve both as green breathing areas and moments of visual openness toward the mountainous landscape facing the site. The project breaks away from the typical building frontage by adopting recessed façades articulated by angled loggias that benefit from both optimal sunlight and views to the south. Thanks to these geometric features, visual distances are significantly extended. The proposal involves the construction of three buildings along with a shared parking area. All apartments except the two-room units have cross-ventilation. The typological research focused on important qualitative criteria: generous room and loggia sizes, with some bedrooms having direct access to a loggia. From the living rooms, the majority of the apartments enjoy unobstructed views toward the south and the surrounding landscape. The central circulation courtyard is flanked on both sides by generous covered walkways, allowing protected movement and creating communal areas for spontaneous encounters and children’s play. The façades of all buildings are made with prefabricated sandwich panels, featuring both smooth bands with standard sandblasting and solid textured sections with pronounced sandblasting in a beige colour. The metal elements of the windows and sunshades are finished with a contrasting bordeaux-toned powder coating.
