Description
The new building of the Chamber of Agriculture blends
confidently into the heterogeneous urban environment of Hallein. The wooden
solitaire with a green façade is not only in line with the characteristics of
the farmers’ interest group but also generates its identity from the group and
asserts itself in the urban environment. In addition, the design of the
building stands for future-oriented values in construction. Coming via a
forecourt, one enters the building and arrives in a foyer, where a central core
leads to both public and semi-public functions. From here one can directly access
the offices of the Chamber of Agriculture and the Machinery Ring, as well as
the event hall and the apartment. All rooms open onto the covered loggias
(veranda), which not only extend the available space with inviting outdoor
areas but also offer attractive views of the surroundings. The design is based
on the construction principle of a wooden skeleton. The special feature lies in
the simplicity of the construction. Columns, beams and ceiling slabs form a
structurally logical and visually comprehensible load-bearing concept. This
principle is also used for the veranda, which structurally protects the wood,
provides vertical façade greening as natural shade for the interior, and lends
the building its distinctive outward appearance.
