Description
The heritage-listed Mösli school complex is defined by
its clear, orthogonal pavilion layout, embedded in a generous and carefully
landscaped setting. Four individual pavilions form the core of the ensemble,
enclosing a courtyard linked by arcaded walkways. The new extension for
kindergarten and day-school use continues the linear structure westward.
Located at the edge of the site, the addition responds with architectural
restraint, integrating respectfully into the protected ensemble. Following the
longitudinal axis of the original complex, a continuous ground-floor corridor
and a dedicated entrance for the kindergarten enhance clarity and orientation.
The extension is perceived not as an appendage but as an organic continuation
of the existing school wing, which remains fully traversable on the ground
level. Prefabricated, unrendered concrete elements form the façade, referencing
the structural logic of the original while subtly differentiating the new.
Interior spaces are characterised by visible timber structures and translucent
glass blocks, creating a refined balance of warmth and light. This interplay of
material and form fosters an atmosphere that is both architecturally precise
and sensitively attuned to the needs of children. The result is a quiet yet
confident architectural gesture – contemporary in
execution, coherent within its context.
