Description
The neo-classical
semi-detached house with adjoining large stable barn, a small wash house and a
shooting lodge was built in 1837 by master builder Joseph Anton Seger from
Vaduz. The listed farmstead on Feldkircher Strasse served as a K&K post
office from 1864 to 1912, providing postal services for the entire
Liechtenstein lowlands. The historic ensemble will be preserved, supplemented
by a new courtyard house, and will provide a new venue for the International
Academy of Music Liechtenstein with its successful masterclasses for talented
young musicians from the region and abroad. The rooms and atmosphere of the
residential building have been largely retained and are now used by music
students as overnight accommodation and practice rooms, while the attic is used
as a professorial loft. The stable barn, built in the style of a pillar barn,
has been adapted as a concert hall for chamber music. The historic timber
panelling on the façade was reinterpreted using adjustable wooden slats. The
new courtyard house takes on foyer and service functions and forms the social
centre of the ensemble as a communal lounge. All buildings display a uniform
material language and are grouped around a courtyard square as a common centre.
Various garden themes complement the open spaces and link the entire complex
with the landscape.
