Description
Half a millennium of home – carefully reworked
The Hofstätte Hintergass
35/37 is part of the historic core of Vaduz. This listed vintner’s homestead
has been carefully restored and prepared for future use, with domestic comfort
and cultural offerings at the heart of the concept. Two independent residential
units – each with a kitchen, bathroom, living room, bedroom and an attic space
– are now available for holidays in a historic monument. These units can be
used separately or combined. The historically evolved spatial structure was
gently reestablished, later additions were removed, and original features such
as plank walls, strap flooring and plaster surfaces were uncovered, restored
and sensitively complemented with contemporary elements. Windows and wood panelling
were reconstructed in a handcrafted manner according to historical models. The
former barn has been transformed into an atmospheric cultural space: lighting,
materiality and interior topography offer a unique spatial experience for
exhibitions, readings and small concerts. A new connection to the wine cellar
further enhances its usability. The adjacent educational vineyard, a pergola
and the pathways through the ensemble create high-quality outdoor spaces with
strong visual connections to the cultural landscape. In this way, a place of
identity emerges at the intersection of history and the present – a house for
living and cultural exchange.
