Description

The project for a temporary pavilion with four classrooms was developed on a single storey. The building takes advantage of its location in the Prazquéron public park by offering classrooms with double orientation and access to the outdoors. Generously glazed façades provide a direct visual connection with the park and a quality of light that is favourable to classroom activities. A covered walkway encircles the building, acting as a buffer space with the outside and providing shade during the summer months. Designed in three months and built in two, the pavilion meets an urgent need in the face of demographic growth in the village. Built from prefabricated wooden components that can be assembled efficiently, the construction system allows the pavilion to be dismantled, reconfigured or recycled with minimal loss. Although the building is temporary, the focus is on high-quality, comfortable pedagogical spaces, thus calling into question the container-type solutions that are often put in place for this type of project. The symmetrical composition of the spaces offers a transparency that runs along the main axes of the building. The wood is sometimes treated as an acoustic surface on the ceilings, and elsewhere as storage furniture on the walls. The overall effect is punctuated by the various soft colours of the floor, depending on the function of the spaces. Red, both in the interior woodwork and on the façade, unifies the pavilion in the emblematic colour of the village.
