Description
The administration building of GWG Tübingen expresses the social and ecological attitude of the user through its open and communication-promoting working atmosphere and its sustainable construction method. The building has its own clear yet restrained stance. It takes up the heights of the residential buildings on Ludwigstrasse and uses the jump in the terrain on Reutlinger Strasse to create height references to the buildings there as well. The façade structure and storey heights in turn seek to relate to the new buildings on the freight depot site. The new building thus sees itself as a mediating element in the middle of the heterogeneous development between Reutlingerstrasse and Eisenbahnstrasse. The vertically and horizontally open configuration of office space is structured by the centrally located atrium and the adjoining cores. Almost all areas can be used for open layouts as well as individual workplaces – the construction and façade grid allows for continuous adjustment of the room configuration, even during ongoing operations. A resource-conserving and CO₂-neutral timber structure and the compact building volume ensure high overall cost-effectiveness in terms of both construction and operation. The natural wooden surfaces of the supporting structure, partition walls and façade create a friendly, pleasant working and room climate and embody the ecological understanding of the GWG.
