Description

The headquarters for EWO, Elektrizitätswerk Obwalden, is a modern service centre comprising administrative, operational and commercial premises. It is a conversion with extensions but has the look of a new building. The intact building fabric of the original administration building was reused and supplemented with timber construction elements. The construction and materialisation embody the work of the company while also responding to the surroundings. A finely structured metal façade interprets the technical component and lends the site an independent, contemporary identity. In its design and colour scheme it also makes reference to agricultural buildings and thus mediates between tradition and modernity. Wood, the traditional building material in rural areas, dominates the interior design. It creates a warm, inviting atmosphere and underlines the company’s local roots. The EWO headquarters building is MINERGIE-A certified.
