Description
The central access axis in Glattpark is formed by Boulevard Lilienthal. The new school building is set back from this street, creating an entrance square and emphasising the unique character of this sole public building in Glattpark. The rear part of the building by contrast is characterised by low-slung, height-modulated sections. This articulation of masses emphasises the sections housing the kindergarten and the walled outdoor playground on the sports hall roof, ensuring that the entire complex is linked to the morphology of the loosely arranged rear rows of buildings. The recreational areas are arranged within the school building complex and separated from the surrounding public space by structural elements for easy social control of the school grounds. The various sections of the school are laid out on two different levels and divided into a variety of facilities. The primary school is accessed from the entrance square via the central foyer, which is designed in such a way that those entering can quickly find their way to the desired part of the building via visual and spatial relationships. The classrooms, which are concentrated on the second and third floors, are accessed via a corridor that alternately opens up to daylight. Extended by furnishable niches, this corridor also enables various learning scenarios together with interconnectable group rooms.
