Description

The new Werk 13 building in Munich’s Werksviertel-Mitte district complements and enhances the existing 7,500-square-metre building to create a powerful ensemble with an industrial character. Two low-slung industrial halls with a similar look mark the beginning and end of the elongated building complex: On one side is Werk 7, the former potato hall, which has been transformed into a large event hall for up to a thousand people with an impressive concrete structure. On the other side is the newly built multifunctional crane hall. With its crane track, it is used not only to supply the neighbouring trades but also as a meeting point and venue for events for up to two hundred people. In the middle between Werk 7 and the crane hall is the Technikum, the technical centre where Pfanni products were once developed. It has now been renovated and integrated into the complex, offering space for celebrations and big (rock) concerts with up to five hundred people. At the back of the Technikum, a newly constructed bracket element connects the three venues, so that the kitchen, storage, toilets, backstage area and central staircase are accessible to all. The staircase leads from the world of the halls upwards into a new part of the building that houses exceptionally spacious loft offices with ceilings up to 5.75 metres and recessed galleries. The lively diversity of uses promotes exchange and innovation. All functions benefit directly from one another and thus strengthen the creative character of the Werksviertel-Mitte district.
