Description
The plot between the busy Neugutstrasse and the Glattalbahn viaduct was to be developed with a new timber building adhering to the highest ecological standards. A timber structure on a massive basement was created, offering office space on the ground floor as well as 24 rental apartments and a roof terrace. The ground floor allows for flexible use and can be divided into two rental units with shared areas. Small outdoor courtyards in the middle zone illuminate the office space and can be used as outdoor spaces by employees. The small apartments on the top three floors face south, each with a small balcony looking onto the SBB and Glatttalbahn tracks. The 24 rental apartments are accessible via an arcade, which is designed as a place for casual encounters and social exchange among the tenants. A second meeting place is on the roof above the ground floor, which has a wooden deck and is covered by a pergola. The Minergie P-standard building receives energy to heat the rooms via a heat pump with ice storage and hybrid collectors. A PV system on the roof supplies a large part of the electricity required. There is no underground car park: a limited number of parking spaces can be found outside, sheltered by the existing viaduct.
