Description
The project continues the existing urban planning
principle of the school. A longitudinal structure is placed orthogonally to the
Rebstockweg at the northeast corner of the site. The new, single-story building
forms the end of the existing playground without impairing its quality in terms
of sun exposure and enables the orchard meadow of the kindergarten in the south
to be preserved. The building is divided into sections according to its
function. These are gradually stepped down to follow the natural topography of
the site. At the head of the building are the two classrooms, which are assigned
to the existing school complex. The music hall is situated beneath the southern
end of the building. It is partly used externally and is therefore oriented
towards the village centre. The kindergartens are separated by shared
intermediary spatial units. Two ramps lead from the cloakroom to the respective
kindergartens. These allow the sloping topography to be experienced within the
building, while also serving to divide the kindergarten interior into a main
room and group space. The building is the first Minergie-A-ECO certified school
building in Canton Bern.
