Description

Site

The plot is located in the Mira-sol district in Sant Cugat del Vallès, dominated by isolated houses with gardens – a space of spaces or a house of houses, in the centre of a garden. Every small section faces inwards onto an inner courtyard and looks different from the four sides of the plot. The volumes that form the house are visually related through the patio. The dialogue with the garden is produced in a contained manner with punctuated and limited openings.

Programme

The size of each cube responds to a spatial programme: The first cube, the access area, provides a welcoming space for reading and listening to music, and, in its double height, the study. A second volume is dedicated to the kitchen, dining room and living room. The third and fourth volumes house the bedrooms. All the rooms are connected by transitional spaces such as walkways. From the inside, you look out onto the exterior (the garden) and, at the same time, onto an inner space that is a small landscape (the patio).

Materiality

The project was developed using a dry construction system based on KLH timber structures and aluminium coatings – MiniWave. The deep wooden windows are a key element of the interior decoration.
