Description
Situated on the upper edge of the community of Meilen, the Stocklen area
has a unique panoramic location. The challenging topography resulted in an
ensemble of four buildings with a courtyard in between. This access courtyard
is address, meeting point and residence at one and the same time while its
spatial frame ensures the privacy of the individual residential units. On the
hillside, six apartments are arranged in two volumes above the solid wall-like
base structure. The two lower houses face the garden that drops down towards
the lake. The apartment typology is defined by the principle of flowing space
which creates a feeling of generosity thanks to the views opened up across the
diagonal and reinforces the connection between the interior and exterior space.
The rawness of the exposed concrete of the buildings is in exciting dialogue
with the panorama and the lushly planted inner courtyard.
