Description
The elongated masonry building offers cheerful and sunny, brightly coloured interiors ideal for its designated uses.
Hard shell – colourful core: The childcare centre, consisting of kindergarten and crèche, multi-purpose wings with therapy rooms and sauna, studios, children’s workshop and children’s kitchen, cafeteria and kitchen, was divided into manageable units. The various sections are grouped around a central courtyard in a windmill layout. The exterior is designed to relate closely to the surrounding landscape. The crèche unit with six groups was divided into two independent areas on the ground floor – just the right size for the little ones to explore and make their own. Nap rooms and changing rooms are each arranged between the group rooms, creating a semi-transparent spatial continuum in each wing of the building. Each group room has its own sheltered outdoor area. The kindergarten, by contrast, is laid out across two levels, with the various areas connected by an «inside street». The different functions are arranged along this passage like in a small village: the kitchen house, the dining house, the sauna house, the kindergarten houses, the crèche houses.
