Description

The headquarters of a manufacturer of wood construction materials in St. Johann in Tirol is the fourth project to be built using a modular system conceived expressly for the company (using Egger OSB 4 TOP boards sized maximum 11.50 m x 2.80 m). The high degree of prefabrication requires that all supply lines and wiring for electricity, ventilation, heating, cooling and lighting be installed in the elements directly at the plant. The modular building concept can be adapted flexibly in structure and size to the specific site and the needs at hand. The result here is a four-storey building in timber frame construction that brings together all administrative areas of the company at a single location. At its heart is a central atrium from which the upper floors are accessed via a large main staircase or an elevator. On the ground floor is the reception area along with training and conference rooms as well as all departments and facilities that are frequented by the employees of the plant in the course of their everyday work, including the staff restaurant. Arranged at each side of the atrium on the upper floors are single, double or four-desk offices accessed via a central corridor that can also be used as a communication or relaxation area. On the exterior, the headquarters building has been given a façade of vertical larchwood slats set at varying intervals, affording diverse views into and through the building as they rhythmically articulate the building mass. All visible interior walls and ceilings are white.
