INNOCAD Architecture
HQ ÖBB
Description
Distinctive corporate architecture was devised for the interiors of the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) headquarters in Vienna, based on the railways’ corporate identity and the themes of mobility and travel. The line element of the ÖBB was reinterpreted here and the resulting algorithmic line graphic used as a design tool. In cooperation with graphic designers United Everything, this concept forms the centrepiece of the design, with a 3.6- kilometre-long portable screen representing a journey through Austria. The screen spans all 23 floors, individually zoning off their functional areas, improving acoustics and generating a captivating atmosphere with its imagery. In conjunction with the flooring design, clean-lined and atmospherically charged spaces were created, which flow into a central zone that functions as an open communication area. The flooring displays different haptic qualities to clearly distinguish the circulation and communication zones from the work areas while also articulating the common spaces.
