Description

Just as in literature a story is contained in a story in a story, we conceived the project as a system that is generated from a repeating geometric module, which is developed from the hexagon. The Centre for Contemporary Art is a decentralised organism: its focus continually shifts from one area to the next; it is everywhere. A sequence of spaces are linked to form a public passage along which the various functions of the building come together as a crossroads and meeting place. The centre becomes a contemporary souk, with no spatial hierarchies, where artists, visitors and scholars all rub shoulders.
