0615_uedo - fire exercise building in training village
Description
In order to enable more intensive training of rescue workers, a new fire exercise building, a mock village square and a shielding wall were added on the northern side of the existing training village. The new buildings are specifically optimised for their function in the training programmes but are also coordinated with the neighbouring buildings to form part of a convincing fictional village setting. The fire exercise house with fire-fighting circuit, fire cells and inner circulation faces onto the village square and frames it on one side. Outer walls were built to enclose a courtyard and form various streetscapes in conjunction with the adjacent buildings. Bends in the façades as well as horizontally shifted protruding and receding panels across their surfaces reinforce the exposed concrete walls. Each floor of the fire exercise building has a different layout so that a wide variety of scenarios can be simulated. A smoke extraction system ensures environmentally friendly practice operation.
