Description

Located on the outskirts of Lausanne, between the residential area of Chailly and the agricultural estate of Rovéréaz, the new building stands on a steep plot planted with trees. To the south, it enjoys an outstanding panoramic view of Lake Geneva and the Alps. The triangular plot led to a house with a singular architectural shape. On the street side, the façade is relatively closed, its verticality enhanced by the undulations of the cladding material, which alludes to the estate’s agricultural past. A slight bend interrupts the rhythm of the façade, following the curve of the road. The glazed staircase leading to the apartments casually penetrates the volume of the building. At the rear of the house, long horizontal windows take advantage of the sweeping views. The living space is extended outdoors by loggias and terraces. At the plot’s acute-angled western corner, a narrow gabled facade asserts a sculptural presence towards the city of Lausanne.
