Description
The building on Christinenstrasse is a live-in monolith made of in-situ concrete. A modern light concrete was used that has both structural and thermal insulating functions. Inside, it was possible to reduce the load-bearing components so that loft-like spaces open up behind the broad window bands. The irregular shape of the plot generated geometries that result in exciting, irregular interiors and which dictated the outer form of the building. With its clearly articulated storeys and reserved colour scheme, the volume blends in well with the surrounding turn-of-the-century buildings. At the same time, it stands out due to its generously sized openings and the visible heaviness of the material.
