Haus am Froschberg
Description
The brief involved expanding the space in a small house from the 1960s and adapting it to today’s structural requirements. Located on the edge of a typical Linz suburb, the property is bordered on the south by an agricultural field. The layout of the ground floor, where the living room, dining room, kitchen area and a small office are located, has remained almost unchanged. The upper level was however completely reorganised. In the course of renovating the roof, generous shed dormers were added, providing more light in the children’s rooms while lending the building its special character. With its saddle roof, the house remains true to the traditional 1960s construction style, but reduces it to its most basic form, freed of all ornament. The house thus preserves all the charm of the era.
