The ground floor level of the rebuilt and renovated stable contains an entrance, three small bedrooms, bathrooms and a laundry room. On the upper floor are the open-plan kitchen with dining and living area plus niche with inbuilt table for office work. The attic floor houses the main bedroom with private bathroom and walk-in closet. Beneath the old stone roof is an open loggia with balcony along the south façade. The façades preserve the original stone structure and are broken up only by horizontal concrete bands framing the openings of the windows and doors on the ground floor level. Movable vertical blinds made of oak planks protect the large windows and draw images of light and shadow in the interior. The renovation highlights the desire to focus on spatial essentials and leave out unnecessary elements or details. The poetic character is expressed by the materials: compressed concrete and untreated oak. The minimalistic language therefore underlines the semantics of the building’s few structural elements. The honesty of the materials used, the focus on detail, the care with which the project was carried out and the workmanship all give the house its strong architectural language.
