Description

The aim of caricatura, the museum of comic art, was to create a place that appropriately acknowledges the graphic artists and authors of the so-called New Frankfurt School and documents and exhibits the different facets of their art form. Con-struction measures were limited to changes to the internal room structure and renewal of the building’s technical equipment. The ground floor is used flexibly for temporary exhibitions and for special events, such as lectures, talks and opening ceremonies. To extend the exhibition space, the new gallery, a furniture-like installation with partly movable wall elements, was created. Glass cabinets are integrated into the entire gallery balustrade. Near the entrance, there is a cash-desk and shopping area. The 1st upper floor houses the New Frankfurt School’s permanent exhibition, while the 2nd upper floor is reserved for the management as well as a lounge area with access to the special library. This is used variably as a venue for events, workshops and lectures.
