Description
A signal drawing attention to this client’s private art collection far from urban centres in the 160-metre long volume with a 30-metre cantilever. Artistic indulgence: The building’s function is to exhibit art. The architecture respects this purpose without drawing to much attention to itself. Reference to the landscape: the powerful orientation of the exhibition hall in natural surroundings acts as a contrast and relaxing balance to the contemplative indulgence of art. Simplicity: industrial sheeting covers the naked concrete construction. The rejection of spectacular details, intricate materials or complicated lighting concepts ensures overall simplicity. Efficiency: 70% of the building’s volume lies below ground level. This fulfilled the client’s main objectives: high energy efficiency and extremely low building costs.
