In the course of reconstruction of the monumental access ramp, a new, prestigious main entrance was also created, including a centre for visitors and press. Next to the entrance to the visitors’ tour or daily closed sessions, a levitating ramp leads through a generous space two levels underground. Whether for a press conference, media presentation or exhibition, the multifunctional hall can be individually adapted to any given circumstance. The new main entrance at ground level offers easy orientation and symbolizes the interface between public and republic. Openings in the massive outer wall of the access ramp – behind foldable steel portals – provide access to varied multifunctional zones in the former ventilation control centre. A ceiling with simulated natural light accompanies the visitors and creates a generous entrance with reception, cloakroom and a small shop. Multimedia installations allow visitors to interact, access general information or digitally explore the building and its inhabitants.
